Isaac Nogués, introduced as new Taronja player at Isaval

Shooting guard Isaac Nogués (1.96m, Badalona, 02/10/2004, 21 years old) was officially presented this morning as a new Valencia Basket player for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2027, in an event held at the Isaval showroom located on Ctra. Aldaia-Xirivella, 46 in Aldaia.

The Catalan guard joins our Club as a free agent after competing last season with the Portland Trail Blazers’ G-League affiliate team. With the Rip City Remix, he was selected to the NBA G-League All-Defensive First Team (finishing third in the Defensive Player of the Year voting), averaging 2.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 steals across 40 games. This summer, after being one of the standout players with Spain’s “B” national team, he was called up by the senior squad to strengthen practices and made his debut as a full international in friendlies against France in Paris and Germany in Cologne.

In his first statement, Isaac Nogués expressed his gratitude to Valencia Basket “for this vote of confidence. Honestly, it wasn’t something I expected at the end of August. It’s a very demanding year, with many games and competitions, and in this case the EuroLeague is new to me. I want to help the team win. My main goal isn’t just to improve individually, which of course I also want to do, but I came here to contribute to winning, to give everything I can for the team to succeed and achieve our very clear objectives. I think little by little it’s clear that the team is doing very well, and even though it’s still early, we’re on the right track. For me, it’s a real honor to be part of a club like Valencia Basket, with Pedro and teammates I’ve been watching from the outside for many years. I’m really happy.”

Isaval, host of the event

Santiago Vallejo, president of Isaval, served as host and opened the speeches by saying:
“Just like Valencia Basket with the Roig Arena, we are also inaugurating this new Hausal Showroom Zone. It’s been twelve years with Valencia Basket, and all we can offer is gratitude. This has been a particularly tough year for Isaval, but all we’ve found from the club is support and understanding. They didn’t let us step away even an inch. We worked hard and managed to rise again, like the Phoenix. And just like Valencia Basket, we are ready to win any title that comes our way.”

Meanwhile, Valencia Basket general manager Enric Carbonell remarked:
“For us, it is a source of pride to walk hand in hand with companies like yours, who were always convinced this had to move forward. Despite all the difficulties I know you’ve faced, you kept going. You’re part of our history, and we’re proud that people identify us with you. And obviously, in such a special year for us, the year we move to the Roig Arena, it means a lot that Isaval is with us in this process. Thank you very much for continuing to be part of the Taronja Family.”

Isaac Nogués, ready for his debut at the national elite level

Later, Enric Carbonell continued his remarks by welcoming Isaac Nogués to Valencia Basket and highlighting:
“I’m fortunate that we’ve already played the whole preseason, so everyone has seen Isaac and knows what he can bring us. We saw the opportunity, he fit the needs of the roster, and we are always open to improving. Chemistry is also a key part, and to build that chemistry, it’s not just about seeing if Isaac is a great defender—everyone has already seen that both in preseason and last season—but also whether he has the mindset to add value, to integrate, and to help us turn a roster of fifteen talented individuals into a team. We’ve seen that day to day, Isaac is the kind of player who comes to contribute, with a mentality of constant growth. He’s not only someone who can help us on defense but also on rebounding, and we’re confident he’ll contribute offensively as well, always thinking about the team first, not just himself.”

The Catalan guard does not shy away from the defensive-specialist label but emphasizes:
“I think I can contribute more than just defensively. Of course, that’s where I can help the most, but I work every day to also add on offense and in every other aspect. It doesn’t bother me if people see me mainly as a defender, because that’s their opinion and I respect it. I just focus on working with my team and coaches so that one day people might change their perception—and if they don’t, at least I’ll still be helping the team.”

Nogués admitted that when deciding on Valencia Basket, “I spoke with Pedro, and the feedback he gave me was positive. He conveyed trust, he wanted to work with me, and he believed I could play an important role in helping the team. Pedro was definitely a plus, but Valencia Basket was the first thing that caught my attention. Of course, if the coach motivates you and makes it clear he wants you, that helps in making the decision. So yes, it was exciting that Pedro would be the coach, but overall, Valencia Basket itself was a great starting point.”
